TRAINING VENUES Beaumont Running Club meets to run on Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm. From
September to April During
autumn, winter and spring we meet on Mondays and
Thursdays at 7pm at the New Parks Leisure
Centre, just off the A563 (Leicester's outer
ring road). Directions:
from the junction of Groby Road (A50) and A563 ring
road go south on ring road (New Parks Way) for half
a mile. Turn left at second traffic lights onto
Aikman Avenue. After 150 yards turn right onto St
Oswalds Road. New Parks Leisure Centre is
signposted to right after 300 yards.
Map The
Leisure Centre has showers. Club members meet in
the bar after runs - especially on the first
Thursday of the month.
Club
runs from the Leisure Centre are on pavements
around Glenfield and the city. During the darker
months these routes are streetlit - and members are
never left to run alone. On
Monday and Thursday evenings we offer general
training runs from the Leisure Centre - almost
always in more than one group so that you are
likely to be running with others of similar
ability. On Thursdays one group concentrates on
speed training (usually interval
sessions). Summer
- from Thursday 16th April 2009 to September
2009 During
the summer we meet in the Newtown Linford
car park to Bradgate Park (still on
Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm - but 6:30pm in
September). Map. Runs
are typically cross-country through the Park and
Swithland Woods - in groups of different abilities.
One group concentrates on interval/hill training
once a week. Car
parking is charged, but free parking is available
on the road outside. Apres-run (optional) will
happen at the nearby Bradgate pub (which has a
garden) on the first Thursday of the
month |
